Richard Leibner, a powerful agent whose firm brokered contracts for many of the biggest names in television news, including Dan Rather, Diane Sawyer, Anderson Cooper, Ed Bradley, Morley Safer and Steve Kroft, died on Tuesday at his home in Manhattan. His son Jonathan said the cause was kidney cancer. Mr. Leibner’s firm, N.S. Bienstock — named for one of its founders, Nathan Bienstock — represented hundreds of anchors, reporters, producers and others in network and local television news. The negotiation that grabbed the biggest headlines was for Mr. Rather, then one of the star correspondents of the CBS News program “60 Minutes.”Between late 1979 and early 1980, Mr. Leibner (pronounced LEEB-ner) parlayed interest in Mr. Rather as the evening anchor from all three network news divisions: ABC News, whose president, Roone Arledge, was trying to raise his third-place division’s profile; NBC News, where the evening anchor John Chancellor was hoping to change to a commentary role; and CBS News, where Walter Cronkite had been the evening anchor since 1962.

Two Russian T-72 tanks were taken out by a single US-supplied Bradley IFV, Ukraine says. Ukraine's deputy defense minister said the tanks were set aflame by the Bradley's anti-tank missiles. Ukraine is keen to demonstrate to Western allies how it is putting their military aid to good use. She said the vehicle took a direct hit from a Russian Grad rocket system — but was tough enough to keep going, while protecting everyone inside. "If we were using some Soviet armored personnel carrier we would all probably be dead after the first hit."

Ukraine's allies have only sent it around half the heavy weapons promised, experts said. Ukraine's counteroffensive has moved slowly, and the country is requesting additional weaponry. "In general, only slightly more than half of the heavy weapons committed have been delivered. Christoph Trebesch, the head of the team creating the tracker, said "the gap between promised and delivered military aid is wide." Experts told Insider's Chris Panella last month that NATO allies' hesitation in giving it more weapons is likely hindering Ukraine's counteroffensive efforts.

Ukrainian soldiers said their lives were saved by the US-supplied Bradley IFVs they were riding in. One soldier said that if they were in a Soviet carrier "we would all probably be dead after the first hit." The soldiers are part of Ukraine's 47th brigade, according to ABC News, which is fighting near Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine. The US has sent 109 Bradleys to Ukraine, and this month pledged to send 30 more. While Ukraine is getting modern weapons and ammunition from Western partners, many Ukrainian soldiers still have to rely on Soviet-era weaponry.
